The MCP-1200 Value Proposition
The MCP-1200 will provide backwards compatibility for your existing products that incorporate an HCTL-1100 motion control chip. Its enhanced capabilities will be attractive to your new motion control products to an new price/performance breakthrough. You can now get to market quickly with a reliable chip that is affordable and has a slew of innovative and practical features.
Historical Background
The HCTL-1100 and its previous versions have been in production since 1986. The latest revision was an implementation using a .8u CMOS process designed by Mektronix in 1999. The latest version of HCTL-1100 still has an ESD protection level of 800V for both HBM and CDM models, well below the 2kV protection of the MCP-1200. More historical and engineering documentation can be found at the HCTL-1100.com website.
The enhancements used in the MCP-1200 were developed from customer feedback and from Mektronix's intimate knowledge of the chip in multiple real world applications such as its use in the P-CNC controller. The improvements and elimination of inherent bugs will provide customers a more robust and innovative solution to their motion control IC needs. Some of the motion control application segments are listed below.
